Music Corner in IG and DP

On the 10th and 24th of October, students walking into school around 8am were greeted by a casual music concert in the indoor play area.

Organised by Alique Khambatta and Viduushi Prasad in collaboration with music facilitator Joseph Sir, Music Corner is a gathering to encourage the “incorporation of music into our school lives”. Its aim to help students across classes bond over music as they witness their peers perform. In addition to this it provides a platform for students with musical interests to share their talents in front of a small audience.

Both times this month, the event took place in the Indoor play area before the first 8.30am classes began. The very first Music Corner was scheduled for the 27th of September but was delayed until the 10th of October. The performers that morning were Alique and Viduushi who sang a duet, Ved and Raunaq did a drum and guitar performance, and Hargun, Urvashi and Sushmita sang as a group. Alique, Viduushi, Ved and Raunaq kicked off the first music corner and performed once more on the 24th of October. The events were a fun way to start the school day and left everyone feeling energised.

The organisers plan to take music corner forward by having one such event for PYP, MYP, IGCSE and DP at least once a month.

In the long term Alique and Viduushi say they’d like for the concept to carry on even after they graduate and become a tradition that brings the students at Symbiosis together. But for now, at least they hope for even more “Fun, participation and music!”
