World’s biggest streamer switches platforms. Did it make a difference?

Source : Restreamblog

The video game industry is one of the biggest in the world. Streaming generates most of this revenue, but what is streaming? Streaming is when the viewer watches an event happen in real time through a streaming service. This means that gamers around the world share their gameplay online and viewers can watch as they play. This is how one of the biggest streamers in the world Tyler (Ninja) Blevins began his career.

Like all of us he began as a small player on a service called Twitch often getting only a couple views. He was slowly climbing the ranks a viewer at a time until one of the biggest games shook up the industry forever. Fortnite a “hunger games” type battle released, and Ninja was one of the first streamers. His skill separated him from the average player. From there it was uphill as he gained thousands of viewers daily. He even broke the Twitch streaming record with 36.9 million live viewers while streaming with Drake. So, if he was so successful why would he change from the biggest platform, Twitch, to Microsoft’s “Mixer”?

The biggest motive for Ninja to switch was the exclusivity deal he made with Microsoft. Experts estimate that Microsoft pays Ninja up to a minimum of 24 million dollars. Other motivation to switch to Mixer might have been the rising competition of another popular streamer “Tfue” on Twitch.

Although they invested millions of dollars into this streamer Twitch continues to dominate the market. This is because Fortnite viewership is going downhill with other categories such as League of Legends on the rise. Ninja’s switch to Mixer just put the streaming service on the radar but it seems Twitch will continue to be the streamers and viewer’s choice for watching live gameplay.
