World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day is an international event marked on the 4th of February to raise awareness of cancer, and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. The students of DP1 organized an informative and enlightening event to contribute towards World Cancer Day, which aims to prevent millions of deaths each year by raising awareness and education about cancer and pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action against the disease. The students conveyed various facts and important preventive measures against cancer too, which could help all of us lead a healthier life. The interactive session not only helped raise awareness about the myths and misconceptions about this highly misunderstood disease but also successfully conveyed the theme of this year's World Cancer Day, “Close the Care Gap”. This campaign is all about understanding and recognizing the inequities in cancer care around the globe, and how we as individuals and a community, can contribute to spreading awareness and taking responsibility against this disease.

The students of DP1 made the educational event even more interesting by conducting an entertaining yet challenging quiz on the interesting facts about cancer that were presented in the session, as well as how they can be a part of spreading awareness, which was followed by a communicative and interactive interview, where our audience asked their questions to our guest, Dr. Payal Narang, known for her 16 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology and providing patient-focused medical care for every stage of a woman’s life. Her valuable knowledge helped us gain an insight into the disease and its physical and emotional impacts. This event was executed successfully with the great efforts of the DP1 students and also the valuable knowledge and time of our speaker, which together helped spread awareness of this highly misapprehended disease-cancer, which we as a community should strive to eliminate.
