Etiquette When Using Technology

Technology is the way to the future. We’ve entered a digital age and we need to start following the rules when using technology.

The first rule is “If you can’t say something to a person’s face, don’t say it at all. ” Cyberbullying, in this day and age, is extremely common. It usually comes from people who are too insecure to say something to another’s face. They sit behind a screen and write nasty comments all while feeling extremely insecure about themselves. When this type of bullying happens, the victim is left feeling trapped inside their own homes. Feeling like there is no escape. The impacts can be detrimental.

The second rule is “Check out all of your facts, without forming an opinion.” Every time we open social media, we see people who are telling us what to think. We need to start checking whether our facts are correct before reposting possibly false news. This Reposting faulty news creates a domino effect and is responsible for the spread of incorrect information.

The third rule is “Respond to emails or texts promptly.” There is nothing worse than to be left without a reply to an email or text that someone has put time into writing. How quickly you reply can show what type of person you are and can help build stronger relationships.

Following these rules will help you become more responsible in the way that you use technology and more informed about netiquette guidelines.

On that account, we should remember to keep the internet, which has recently become an immense part of our lives, a safe environment for each and every one of its users.

“Technology is best, when it brings people together” -Matt Mullenweg.
